Insurance companies are required to send a list of everyone who has filed for insurance with them to the state. If you apply for a driver's license and you're not on their list, they know you don't have auto insurance. Likewise, if you are dropped by your auto insurance company, they are required to send the state notification of that as well, so the state also knows when you've been dropped and will send you a note telling you that you need to get auto insurance. In addition, you need to carry proof of insurance with you in the car at all times in case of a traffic stop.

Why do I need busines insurance if I only trade at home through the internet (selling my own custom built software programs)? And what business insurance would I need to do this?
Also does anyone have any links - where I can get a quote on this sort of trading?
Thanks in advance.

If you employ anyone, you need employers liability.

If you are on your own, business interruption insurance could be advisable, to cover you if you fall very ill.

Also, insure your equipment and against your software being pirated.

My kitten died; should I get another?

8 days ago, my kitten passed away of FIP. I only had her for 24 days but as any animal lover can attest, you fall in love with your pets so easily and become attached. I had rescued her from the Humane Society and since I was left with a $1300 vet bill trying to save my kitty, I tried to see if they could help me out. They can't - it's up to the insurance company. But my insurance company (it was a free gift when you adopt) will not help me out. The Humane Society however said that I can get another kitten without charge. Part of me thinks it is too soon after my other kitten passed away. But the other part of me really misses having a kitten around. They really do bring some life and character to the home! After spending my holidays with my little sister's kitten (who happened to be my kitten's sister), it made me really miss having a kitten around. I know I am likely to get another kitten someday anyway... but do you think it is too soon after the loss of my other cat?

I remember your earlier question, when your kitten was ill with FIP, and I remember how much you loved her and did everything you could for her.

All things considered, if I were you I would take the Humane Society up on its offer of another kitten, but not a kitten from the same litter. (Keep a very close eye on your sister's kitten, who was from the same litter as yours, because she may be infected with FIP also.)

I would get a kitten from a litter that had been fostered elsewhere, not one that had been at the shelter for more than a few days.

Incidentally, though it seems like the obvious thing would be to have a kitten tested for FIP, it doesn't work that way. Testing kittens under six months of age is inaccurate because they may still have passive immunity from their mother, and the FIP test is notoriously inaccurate, most often in the direction of false positives.

FIP is a disease associated with large groups of cats living in crowded conditions, so you find it most often in cats from feral colonies, hoarders, sometimes shelters and breeders.

I don't think it is too soon after the death of your kitten to get a new one. Be sure to take it to a vet promptly to get a full evaluation of its health.

Insurance for renting a lock-up garage?

I am considering renting a lock-up garage in the UK and want to know if it is possible to get some sort of insurance policy to cover the building and contents (I currently do not have any other property insurance e.g home insurance). Does anyone know of any insurance company that can offer such a policy? I would be using the garage as a small workshop and therefore I plan to store and use some expensive equipment e.g aprox £15,000 worth. Also, the insurance would also have to cover the actual garage in case of damage e.g fire.

Do you own or rent a home? I am assuming you rent, or most likely you would have a homeowners insurance policy. You could buy a renters insurance policy which is usually very reasonably priced, and then your belongings in your lock-up garage would be covered. If your equipment is worth more than $2,500 you will want to tell the company you choose about them specifically, and schedule them. This may require appraisals, but it would ensure that you would get what they are worth in case of a loss. An agent who represents many different companies (an independent agent) will probably be your best bet as opposed to a captive agent, who only represents one company. You can locate a local independent agent in your area in the phone book. You will recognize them because they will have several company logos on their ad, not just one. I hope this helps!!!

Insurance Check - Made Out to Me and Auto Body Shop?

I read a few answered questions here. I got my car hit and couldn't find the title to my car, so instead of making the check straight to me, they put the auto body shop's name on it as well. It was made out to me and the auto body shop. The bank isn't supposed to take it obviously, but I got mine to deposit it. I'm crossing my fingers and waiting to see what happens. What are the chances I will get the money and the bank will not catch the error? I've heard of this happening before to people with no problem. If worse comes to worse, I can send them a copy of the title and then I get a check made out straight to me. I can then either get my car fixed or choose to pay off my credit card debt with the money. I have a feeling I will get some responses saying it's illegal to not get my car fixed. Actually, it's not; I can do whatever I'd like with the insurance proceeds as long as my car is paid off. (Which it is.) Any bank personnel input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! =)

If the car is paid for you can do anything with the money you wish ... it is NOT iillegal. Now that the check is made out to both there are some things you can do.... get the car repaired, sign the check and give it to them....go to the shop and have them sign the check and deposit/cash the check... or sign the check for the body shop (not llegal, but the body shop is the only ones you have to worry about and the only ones who will/can get you in trouble) sign your name and then deposit/cash the check. Now I'll get thumbs down from the know it alls... but I have done all three with checks and it can be done.

When asking yourself, "Should I file bankruptcy?" it is important to focus on the issues that are most important to you. Some wonder if Missouri or Illinois Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy will leave them with huge insurance premiums. But, instead, maybe these folks should be thinking, "How is my current credit score already affecting my insurance premiums?"

It is too hard to say with 100% confidence that anything will definitely make your insurance premiums go up or down. The formula for calculating insurance premiums has been kept secret since the dawn of insurance companies. It is clear, though, that a bad credit score alone will affect your insurance rates. Well, wouldn't a bankruptcy make it worse? Not necessarily. In fact, a Missouri or Illinois bankruptcy probably wouldn't do any more damage than a bad credit score is even doing. Bankruptcy might even help you avoid those devastating insurance bills.

"But James, how could bankruptcy possibly help me with my bad credit?"

By the time you need to file a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy in Missouri or Illinois, your credit is probably already in bad shape. There won't really be much credit for bankruptcy to hurt, most likely. Plus, bankruptcy helps you get such a handle on your debt that you can finally have a fresh start with your credit score. For many, it is only up from there. The continuous downward spiral of your credit score from being behind on all your credit accounts stops and you can get on track to building a better score; and lower insurance premiums.

In the end, it is your choice. You can choose to get protection from foreclosure, credit card debt help, and relief from the harassment of your creditors or you can continue to try to claw your way out of overwhelming amounts of debt. Instead of thinking of all the negative effects bankruptcy can have, think about the negative effects your debt is already having. Many people find that Missouri or Illinois bankruptcy is the right choice for them and their families.

Give a St. Louis, Missouri or Fairview Heights, Illinois bankruptcy attorney a chance to change your life. Learn all you can about the options you and your family have for getting out from under crushing amounts of debt. Look for free information from reputable lawyers in your area like bankruptcy FAQ, articles, blogs, and even free publications.

Missouri Bankruptcy attorney James Brown has been working to relieve the debt of hard-working American families for over 15 years. He has dedicated his career to educating consumers about options for debt relief and has released 5 publications, including, "Get Out of Debt: Secrets Your Creditors Don't Want You to Know." You can request a free copy at http://www.castlelaw.net.

Please pick an offer for PHD program for me?

I got two offers into PhD programs of psycholinguistics from two universities.
One is Ohio University: $13,300/yr+full tuition waiver for 3 years. I also have to pay for general fees and health insurance (about $3,000 per year). My academic advisor is a Taiwanese guy. (I am Chinese guy)
Another is Bowling Green State University: $11,135/yr+full tuition waiver+fee waiver for 4 years. My academic advisor is a white woman who seems very easygoing.
So which one should I choose? Although I am a hardworking student, I don't really want a lot of pressure from my advisor. I just want a comfortable university experience. And after graduation, I don't really look forward to making a lot of money as long as I can find a decent job such as a university teacher. Also money is a very important issue for me because I am not rich.
Please give me some advice.

Over the course of the program, BGSU is a better deal since they support you for 4 years vs. the 3 of OU, plus you don't have the health care costs. Bowling Green is an affordable town, perhaps more so than Athens, and it's a nice area in which to live.

I'd also consider the rest of the faculty -- besides your advisor, do you respect the work of the departmental faculty? You'll take classes with lots of profs, not just your advisor.

I did my undergrad there and loved it -- academically rigorous, supportive environment, nice campus (although I haven't seen it in ages), highly regarded university.

The English department was great back in the day; I assume it still is.

Good luck!

Travelers auto insurance is only one of many companies that you can get auto insurance from. The company has been around for many years, and focuses more on home and life insurance than auto insurance. However, they do offer this type of coverage, and are worth checking into when you're shopping for auto insurance.

You need to know how travelers auto insurance is going to affect your insurance rates. They may charge more than one company, but less than the next. Perhaps they will be the cheapest company you find. Or better yet, perhaps they'll have the best policy at a really affordable rate. It's hard to tell until you take the time to shop around and compare insurance rates. Just because you've always gotten insurance from a company doesn't mean that it's the best insurance for you; you might actually be able to save hundreds by switching to another company. And the best part: you can compare rates without dropping your insurance policy until you're ready to switch.

Travelers auto insurance works the same as other insurance companies. They have plenty of different types of coverage and policies available to their customers. Also, they have discounts available to their customers, based on your specific eligibility. You can apply online through their website, or you can call them. You can also consult with some independent agents, as a few of them do sell travelers insurance. However, travelers insurance is more of an independent company, so it might be difficult to find an agent with access to the company.

As with any other insurance, the better your driving record, the lower your rates will be. Insurance is a game of risk and reward. If you are more likely to file claims, you'll be considered high risk. Hence, you'll pay higher insurance premiums. Alternately, if you're proven to be low risk, you'll pay lower premiums, which is what everyone wants. No matter how many discounts you find, or how many secrets there are, the best and easiest ways to save money on travelers auto insurance is to shop around and to drive safely so that you are a low risk to the insurance company.

Is it a good insurance to go with? cuz 2 days ago she went to walgreens to get a prescription which was $60 and she had to pay $50 dollars out of it.what kind of insurance is that makes you pay 83% of your medication. So we were thinking to go with somebody else, we are in denver, co what are some other reasonable insurance compaies to go with ? we use to pay just $9 for the same prescription under tricare until 2 months before.

Switch to Blue cross. It costs a little more but they cover prescription drugs 100%.
