UK drivers need to heed the latest financial warnings regarding speeding points on their driving licence. Reckless driving over the speed limit will warrant at least three points on a UK driving licence and this can significantly impact on the cost of a future motor insurance premium.
The latest revelations that drivers with speeding points on their licence fork out up to £1,000 on a motor insurance quote is hardly surprising. The basic premise of car insurance is to provide the lowest risk to the insurer as possible, therefore obtaining a cheap premium. However, the cost of insuring a driver with driving infringements sky-rockets regardless of whether they are reformed and more careful as a result of previous convictions.
As well as the risk to the insurer, brokers are also raising premiums to penalise convicted drivers in an attempt to salvage a return after a difficult couple of years for the car insurance industry during the recession. There is a modicum of common sense involved by auto insurance providers, with drivers holding just one speeding conviction still able to receive a competitive quote as opposed to serial offenders.
When you push and break the speed limit to reach your destination just a few minutes faster, consider the overall effect this could have on your driving licence and any future financial outlays on your motor insurance.

Cyclists – time for a change in the law?
With more cyclists taking to the road due to the price of petrol and trying to be greener isn’t it about time they were required to have some sort of insurance.

Yet another death caused by utter stupidity and ignorance.
Why is it OK to kill someone by riding a bike into them but not so acceptable in the eyes of the law to do the same thing in a car? Who picks up the tab when a cyclist damages you or you vehicle?
How dare you trivialise the deaths of hundreds of cyclists a year at the hands of car drivers with your idiotic question.
