health insurance new york
What can I do for therapy/meds in Upstate New York without health insurance?

I have suffered from severe depression and borderline personality disorder since I was at least thirteen. Been cutting for an equal amount of time (I'm 21 now).

I know I need therapy, but I just don't know where or how to find it. And I'm getting seriously stressed out to the point where I'm debating trying to admit myself to Four Winds Saratoga if possible, simply because I really am getting to be in such dire emotional straits.

I just moved from Virginia to Upstate NY (though I'm originally from the area), I have lots of family in the area, as well as future in-laws who are great but are stressing me out ridiculously. I have a job but haven't been able to work, first due to severe vertigo, then my sister being diagnosed with whooping cough, and now I just don't have the stamina to work with my UTI and depression...

I feel like I'm going to sink under soon. What can I do?

(Also, if it helps any, I live in the Glens Falls area of Upstate NY.)

look in the yellow pages under mental health and/or counseling and call the local mental health clinic and ask if they take low income or no income people for therapy , you need meds, etc........and if not, who does in your area......
then call social services listed in the blue pages under state and ask them what is available to you and if you can apply for assistance......
If you really want to feel better fast and heal yourself from your past and pain go to eftuniverse.com and click on 'get started free' and download the manual and heal yourself like others are doing there. There are stories there of people with bpd and many things healing themselves in the resource area.
Take advantage of family and find the ones you can talk to and trust to guide you and mentor you and help you become a success.
I am not sure what the vertigo is, but it sounds like an MRI of the brain and neck would be in order and make sure you are drinking enough water each day, at least two quarts or 8 , 8oz glasses.
dehydration can cause vertigo
best wishes

health insurance monopoly states

With the highly demanding curriculum that it takes to be a physician, it's important that the rewards commensurate. No one wants to spend years in medical school trying to become a licensed physician only to discover that there are no job openings for physicians anywhere. Fortunately, the outlook for physician jobs in the United States is very good. If that is a career path that you're interested in pursuing, you can rest assured that there will be jobs available for you.

In fact, job growth for physicians is expected to be well above the average for jobs overall. This is especially true for physicians who are willing to pursue a specialty, such as pediatrics, OB/GYN, or internal medicine. There is always a demand for more doctors who specialize, since they are perceived as experts in their fields. In addition, there will be many job openings for physicians who are willing to work in rural areas or areas with limited income. People often feel that there aren't enough physicians in these areas, and always looking for more.

While it may seem like a practice in a low-income area would face problems, it is in some ways an untapped market. Many physicians avoid these areas because they do have their detriments, such as having to work odd hours and being separated from the medical community at large. However, since there is no competition, physicians in these areas can get an effective monopoly on patients.

Overall, healthcare is one of the fastest growing industries in the countries. It's expected that by 2016, the number of practicing physicians will have grown 14% from what it was in 2006. With the population growing and people living longer, there is always a need for more trained medical professionals. In order to maintain their practice, it's important for a physician to stay abreast of changes and advancements in the medical field.

There are other factors that may affect the demand for new physicians. For example, if legislation in the health care sector results in higher direct costs for patients, then people may be more reluctant to see a physician. However, if the healthcare system becomes more accessible to more people and their out-of-pocket costs decrease, demand for practitioners will skyrocket. Also, new advances in diagnostics and medical records may also improve individual efficiency of physicians. This makes it even more important for up-and-coming physicians to stay on top of changes in medical technology.

However, there is one major difference for modern physicians looking for new jobs. In the past, many physicians started their own practices. In the modern era, it is more common for a physician to take a salaried position in establish practices or health care clinics. This makes the barrier to entry for modern physicians significantly lower, as they don't have to manage and maintain their own offices. However, those who have always wanted to own their own practice still have that option, so long as they are willing to put in the work it requires to get such a venture off the ground.

You might want to elect COBRA for your illness. Govt subsidies have made this very affordable for many - they will cover some of the premium and this may give you a chance to get your feet back on the ground and purchase an individual plan down the road.

Talk to you HR person.
