What is your opinion of One Beacon Insurance in MA?

Thinking about switching my home and auto insurance.
Hi, Thanks for responding! I am really interested in finding out how they treated claims. My agent says they have been doing business with them for a long time and he writes quite alot of business with them. They are expanding in CT. I just want to make sure they are really on the up and up before I sign.

They offer a good product. They have a good package (home & auto) policy where there is a “blanket” property limit of 2 times your dwelling replacement amount. You can use this limit for dwelling, other structures, contents or loss of use up to the total limit – there are no sublimits (meaning a certain amount for the dwelling, other structures, contents, loss of use).
There underwriting staff is OK. But, their website absolutely stinks.
We used to be an agent with them, we voluntarily ended it. We had only a small amount of business with them. They were on & off good & bad to deal with so I know I personally didn’t write much with them.
What is your agent’s opinion of the company?

Looking for one more reason to purchase auto insurance in Minnesota? Not only will you have protection for your own vehicles when traveling from place to place but you can also get automatic protection for up to $35,000 worth of coverage for loss of use, collision and liability on rental cars throughout the United States for free. If you’re traveling a lot, this could save your substantial amounts of money and the hassle of $20 or more each day for insurance coverage that you may pay through other providers.

While it’s true that some credit card companies such as American Express can also provide rental car insurance coverage the fact is that this may not necessarily apply to all rentals done and if you have automatic coverage for your own Minnesota State plan there would be no need for any additional charge to your credit card company or some other provider.

So will this automatic coverage help you if you want to travel and rent a car in Mexico or some other foreign country? Unfortunately no, however it should be applicable for all of the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and other US commonwealths. That means if you’re traveling regularly around the United States for business or pleasure and you’re from Minnesota you could cut back your personal or company costs by large amounts. Who knows? Maybe your company would even help support the purchase of an auto insurance plan for you if they know it could save them money at the counter when you’re traveling to different areas.

If you’re looking for an auto insurance provider in your area to take advantage of this deal try searching online using insurance search engines to find quotes from local providers in your area in order to find the best service and save the most money in the long run. Online searches are excellent alternatives to magazine, newspaper or other print ads and can help allow you to find insurance providers that you may not be able to get in touch with otherwise. This is particularly helpful for those first seeking auto insurance as well as those seeking to lock in better rates over their current monthly payments, which should be something all consumers should do at each plan renewal period or in the event of an insurance payout due to an accident or some other liability.

In the state of California alone, it is estimated that more than 3 million drivers drive without insurance. Some are drivers that have dropped coverage their cars are registered, but most are flouting the law simply because they cannot afford to comply.

If you take even a cursory look at insurance rates in many urban areas, you can get a quick picture of the problems facing many people. Take, as an example, an area of South-Central, Los Angeles, where the annual minimum insurance premium for a driver with a decent record comes to almost 1/7th of their annual income. The situation is not significantly better in many other urban areas.

Unfortunately, some well-meaning legislation to try and address the iniquitous position that many poor drivers find themselves in merely have an adverse effect on other drivers.

For example, in New Jersey, a new programme, know colloquially as ‘the dollar-a-day’ programme, was instigated in order to afford coverage to low-income motorists. It means that such motorists may drive legally without carry property-damage liability insurance.

The scheme, formally known as the Special Automobile Insurance Policy (SAIP), has allowed more than 22,000 drivers to take to the roads of New Jersey holding policies that cover only hospitalisation for their own injuries. This means that when a SAIP-covered driver hits another car, the accident victim and their insurance company alone are faced with the bill.

The victim can choose to sue, but, as logic would dictate, a driver holding such a policy as the SAIP has very few assets to start with, and such a strategy is unlikely to meet with too much success.

The policy has been heavily criticised for its latent unfairness, placing the financial burden on the few, whilst not significantly helping poor drivers either.

The problem is that, if the victim does decide to pursue litigation, such action can continue for years, thereby possibly mortgaging future earning power. Every action has its consequences. As a result, more insurance professionals are dissuading lower-income motorist from such schemes.
