is gas boiler normally covered under home insurance?

my boiler just turned itself off and refuse to start again i think it needs to be replaced, is gas boiler covered under normal home insurance?

No.. it is considered part of routine maintenance and upkeep. But..... if it got hit by lightning, flood damage, electrical surge, it was stolen, robber hit it with a baseball bat, neighbors dog chewed it..... then you might have a claim.

I've got no hot water - what's wrong with my boiler?

I've had hardly any hot water this week. It starts off hot in the morning but mid way through my shower, it runs out and the water gets ice cold. The heating is still working fine though and I've checked the boiler and all the switches are in the right place. Any ideas what the problem can be?

Also, are boilers included on house insurance or do you have to pay extra for that? Going to have a look when I get home, but thought I'd just see if anyone knew here.
It's a combi boiler

Not a heating engineer, so sorry no idea about the water, but as to the insurance, unless you have a very special insurance policy, no it wont be. They would just regard it as an appliance breakdown.

The only way for your insurance to pay out on it would be if it blew up and took out your wall!

A bit extreme!

You need seperate heating cover, normally from gas engineer/ supplier to cover your boiler.

Looking for an incentive to pop the question to your nearest and dearest? Well as if true love wasn't reason enough, now you can add car insurance savings to your list of incentives to get married.

Research from a price comparison website has revealed married couples can save up to 1.5 times more on their car insurance than single drivers. In fact married couples save on average £82.70 more than their single counterparts on costs every year - with savings for some couples even soaring to £228.

Though typically it is believed that women prosper more from marriage than men, it's actually males who stand to gain the most from getting hitched. On average, men save £106.88 on their annual premiums compared to £58.51 for women - albeit this is partly due to the fact that single males' premiums are usually set much higher than those of females.

So why does marriage offer car insurance savings?

Many of the risk factors assessed by insurers are based on perception. Generally, married couples are more likely to take their time on the road due to their increased responsibilities - they are certainly less likely to act like boy racers.

Of course getting married isn't the only path to cheap car insurance. If you're not ready for nuptials then look at enhancing the security of your car, taking an advanced driver's course, staying conviction free and paying annually to save cash.

If you are heading to the altar and looking to set up a new home together, then examine the crime rates of the towns you are considering moving to as this will also affect your premiums.

Above all, shop around for cheap car insurance with a car insurance comparison website and you may save enough for an extended honeymoon.
