Work in medical fields can be both physically and emotionally draining. Nurses are often subjected to things that most other people don’t deal with on a daily basis. This is the reason for the development of nursing humor, which is a special type of humor that is often only understood and appreciated by others in medical or health-related fields.
There are many jokes surrounding the interaction between medical personnel or even nurses and patients. These jokes don’t usually contain offensive language; however, they may present the nurse as less compassionate or even unprofessional. Nurses are taught to be kind when dealing with patients and families, but they are human, too. Sharing jokes like this allows physicians or nurses to put a positive light on the negative aspect of their job and cope with patients and situations better.
Medical humor is very unique – it defines medical terms in many different ways. Take for example, a liquid substance known as barium, used in radiology tests. According to certain nurse jokes on the web, the definition of barium can also be defined as the job of an undertaker. Nurses know this humor is beyond the normal experience of a layperson and usually avoid this medical terminology humor so that nobody is offended.
Most nursing websites have a forum thread dedicated especially to funny occurrences, or to nursing humor. This offers an outlet for those jokes that are just too funny not to be shared. Frequently, these jokes are also spread through email or handouts available at nursing stations. There are even a few Internet sites dedicated entirely to nurse humor, and many dedicated to expressions of general medical humor as well.
Nursing humor sometimes is concerning issues that only those in the medical field would understand and fully appreciate. These inside jokes might be about things related to the specific institution where they work. These are usually shared within the field and jokes related to things such as insurance problems or government sponsored health care are shared with family members and friends.
If you have a friend or family member that is a nurse you can probably remember hearing many tales of nursing humor. Most nurses resort to this dry humor to cope with the life and death issues they face daily. Check out a few of the websites that offer this type of humor. Read these bits as if you are nurse and you will have a better understanding of the humor

Was Arsenio Hall’s appearance on Leno last night the lamest event in television history?
Just a sample of the comedic genius: What he’s really saying: “I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.”
Good god. Stale, unoriginal, probably paid to make that joke. The funniest part is watching him and Jay try to feign laughter. I feel ill.
I liked Michelle Obama’s part.
Overall that show is lame.

Contrary to popular belief, individual health insurance Illinois does not have to be costly. Insurance reform or not, Illinois has a very good system in place to provide insurance for its citizens at an affordable rate. From state run institutions to private companies, there is really no reason to be without insurance in the Illinois area. The first things to be discussed are the benefits of using short term health insurance. Short term health insurance is designed for the individual who needs some kind of coverage and who, most likely, recently lost a job with an employer offered insurance plan. These plans can last anywhere from six months to a full year and, while not as versatile as other plans, can be a quick and inexpensive alternative to having no coverage while you are looking for a new job with new insurance. Next is long term insurance.
Long term insurance is the individual health insurance Illinois plan that people are most familiar with. This type of insurance plan last as long as you keep paying and stay within the pre-set limits imposed by the company. Depending on the plan, they can cover everything from prescription drugs and hospitalization to pregnancy and prenatal care. Like short-term insurance, there are limits to how much medical coverage you can receive in a lifetime and not every plan will cover the things that you need resulting in “gaps” which require additional protection, these gaps in coverage can be covered through a separate inexpensive supplemental policy. Health insurance is not exactly rocket science, basically speaking, the more rick you are willing to take the cheaper the premiums will be. That is where you really need to decide exactly what kind of plan you’re looking for and what you need covered so you don’t end up paying for something that isn’t necessary. Another excellent way to keep your costs down is to stay healthy. Sometimes easier said than done, but if you are healthy you can get competitive bids every year if you wanted to and keep your cost to an absolute minimum.
Medicare Insurance Supplements are forms of individual health insurance Illinois citizens can use to complement their existing benefits. While not complete plans on their own, these plans work very well to balance some of the missing pieces in Medicare coverage, such as prescription medications and certain types of at-home care. Then there are the state sponsored programs like Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan or CHIP, for people whose medical conditions are keeping them from finding insurance, and the Kidcare program, which provides low-cost coverage for children.
Individual health insurance Illinois plans are quite numerous and you should not try to figure them out all on your own. To do so puts both your money and your coverage in jeopardy. That is why you should speak to an expert at some point in your search. Also, scan the internet for websites that let you compare quotes from different companies without having to deal with rhetoric and insurance plan advertisements.
