Many Ohio residents don't realize that we have an "Open Enrollment" for health insurance that is available most of the year.

The Ohio Department of Insurance offers Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) coverage to applicants who may be unable to secure their own coverage for a variety of reasons including health issues.

(HMOs) offer an alternative to traditional insurance. It is a system in which you receive your basic health care from specific doctors and hospitals. HMOs accept individuals during their Open

Enrollment Period regardless of any pre-existing health conditions.

HMO's may refuse to accept individuals that have or are eligible for coverage:

As a federally eligible individual;

Under group continuation coverage;

As a Medicare recipient (some plans will cover this group); or

Has employer sponsored health coverage.

Things to remember:

You must live in the HMO service area to apply;

Coverage may not start until 90 days after your month of enrollment;

An HMO may be granted a waiver or limit for their open enrollment period.

Here is how you enroll:

Call the HMO serving your county (at the beginning of their expected date) to confirm their scheduled open enrollment will take place; Apply early as applications are taken on a first come basis. You may request an application be mailed to your home address; you do not have to apply in person.

If you need additional assistance after contacting the plan:

Contact the Consumer Services Division of the Ohio Department of Insurance at (800) 686-1526.

***Special thanks to the ODI website.

Birth control cost? And where can I get it?

So I'd like to go on the pill or perhaps Nuvaring..but I do not have health insurance so I am unsure of the cost.
I think Planned Parenthood would help me out, if you know the cost or of one in the Erie, PA area...please let me know.
Me= a poor starving college student( hahaha)
Thank you.
-Katie

If you are in college, you probably have student health insurance... am I right? If so, go to your student health center. Most birth controls are free through them, and the rest are at a great discount.

If you aren't covered by student health insurance, then Planned Parenthood or your local health department are great places to go. Both operate on a sliding scale, so you only have to pay what you can afford.

Follow this link, and you can enter a zip code to find the closest Planned Parenthood: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/

Can the Police legally tow my car away without telling me or giving me a citation?

I purchased a police car 1 month ago from San Diego, they didn't have the pink slip.The letter of sale says as soon as a replacement title is obtained from the DMV it will be certified mailed to me. When I saw the tow truck I ran outside & told them that it was my car & showed them the paper work & insurance. They said it didn't have my name on it (it does) & was not registered. When I asked them if I could park it in my drive way, they said NO the tow truck is already here. I did not rec. a citation. The San Diego PD picked it up & delivered it to me.Now there's s a terrible consistent ca-bang sound, the tow co said to have a mechanic show them that the tow truck caused it. Do I have a civil case against the officer's for towing it?

You have one against the City as well as the officer who towed the vehicle and the tow company. If you purchased it from the agency that towed it you have a case.

If you provided proof of ownership and the reasons for not having it properly tagged as the fault of the San Diego PD - the officer had a duty to inquire further with his agency in regards to the vehicle. His failure to properly perform that duty showed and demonstrated his incompetence. The officer and or his supervisor could have stopped the vehicle from being towed regardless of whether or not the wrecker arrived to take your vehicle

You should have the vehicle inspected. The exact reason or cause of the damage should be recorded on the inspection. If the inspection expert sites damage caused by the wrecker the case is stronger.

What does Florida law say about this?

I am a truck driver that lives in Florida. In mid November I took a run to Denver, CO. While I was gone some punk decided to break into my car and steal my radio and damage some leather. My car was parked on company property which is fenced in. My question is who is responsible, financially, for the damage to my car. The owner told me when I got back that he would handle it either by just paying for it or running it through his insurance. I told him that I would prefer if he just give me the money so as to avoid red tape and hassle. Ever since he has been giving me the run around. The total amount of the damage is a little over $1,100. If he is responsible then I plan on filing a civil suit, or taking it to small claims court. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

run it through you insurance co. and let them deal with the co. you work for.

Provisional drivers provide motor insurance quotes quite unlike the conventional insurers. Insurers have high rates for motor insurance, the rates being much more than what a driver in the learner's level can afford.

As learners are more prone to fatal accidents, their insurance is so expensive and also many insurance companies are quite reluctant to make their policies accessible to the learners. Various insurance schemes are available which do cover insurance for provisional drivers. Insurance for 17 year old male drivers possessing a provisional license is also available. Complete and detailed policies as well as budget third party schemes are also available.

Often learners believe that once they get through their driving examinations, their motor insurance value will decrease. This is not the case though. A learner driver under introspection has as much chance to cause accidents as does a person who has just got through his test.

Cheap car insurance for provisional drivers is available at the whole range of insurance companies in the UK. Quite a number of policies, exclusively for learners, are available. At times the insurance companies fail to provide the temporary drivers a good deal for the insurance. Sometimes they just fail to give them a proper rate.

Cheap car insurance for provisional drivers is very difficult to find. Insurance policies for people having temporary driving license is either unavailable or costly as they are considered to be very accident -prone. The particular insurance company inspects the documents and clauses placed by the license holder when he or she was insured previously in that same company and then settle on the cost.

Much though the people possessing the temporary license love to believe that their insurance costs will dramatically decrease once they get through their examination, it is definitely not so. The insurance companies look upon a driver who has just made through his or her driving test as being prone to accidents just as much as a learner. The insurance hazard is quite the same and hence cheap car insurance for provisional drivers is such a trouble to locate.

I got a quote online from Erie and it said i can expect to pay $1200 - $2000 a year for insurance if i insure under minimum deductables. that sounds like a great deal but since its so cheap it sounds kinda fishy

if you have Erie auto insurance or worked for them or something, are they reliable? do they jack up the rates really high after an accident? Thanks!

Looking for affordable health insurance in California?

Is there any way that an individual might be able to join an existing health insurande group? I am single, and my job does not offer insurance. I am 28 and healthy, but the costs of individual plans are out of my budget. I was just wondering if there was a better way to insure myself on the up and up.

In some states—I believe California is one—an insurance broker can bring together individuals into a small group that qualifies for a group plan. Consult with a local insurance broker. To find one, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a quote. Your info will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. A broker works with several health insurance companies, and can find the best deal for you. There is no charge for the service and no obligation to buy.

My car was rear-ended recently in an accident. When I hand my car over to the auto body shop, they'll be working on it for at least a week. I don't have another option for transportation because I have to drive a lot for my job and I can't take a week off of work...

I'm entitled to a free rental through insurance, but the rental places keep telling me I can't because I have to be at least 21. Is this true for every rental place? Are there any other options?

the best way is to have your parents rent the car and add you as an additional driver

you'll have to pay an extra fee for underage driver and a fee to add a driver.

otherwise no one will rent to you unless your 21 and many unless your 25

Health Insurance for our Canadian child in NY?

I am wondering where do I find health insurance in Buffalo,NY for our son? He was born in Canada, daddy is American is a NY state resident and we are visitors here but in need of short term health insurance, any suggestions of where to turn, OTHER than calling all the agencies in the phone book.
Daddy doesn't have insurance. The problem is our child is not a resident of the USA.

You can get a traveler's insurance but it's expensive. Usually you only get a policy if you will be in a foreign country for a minimum of 6 months. I don't recommend them. If your son's father has insurance, he can add him to his policy for the short period of time.
