is there anything I can do about making payments on a car that was totaled and NOT covered by Insurance ?

My car was totaled by an excluded driver, Ins. Co. won’t pay. We are still liable for our monthly car payment, does anyone know anything we can do? Don’t want to get bad credit rating, and already talked to 3 lawyers about Ins. Co., Looks like we’re screwed!! please help!!

Since you were in violation of your policy and your claim denied because of this, you really don’t have any options with regards to your insurance. Have you thought about going after the excluded driver. Does he have coverage on another car that might extend to yours? You might have to sue the driver for the cost of the car.

Good luck

Drivers in Texas know how important it is to have good auto insurance. With the big cities in the wide open spaces, they’re plenty of opportunities to have accidents. Plus, theft can be a problem in Houston and Dallas. Another issue is the number of uninsured motorists on the road. With all these problems, it’s obvious that having a good auto insurance policy is very important to protect your financial well being. But how do you find a policy that fits your needs and your budget? It can be hard to find cheap Texas auto insurance, but by following a few tips and being a smart consumer, you’ll have a low cost car insurance policy in no time.

Companies In Texas

There many auto insurance companies doing business in Texas. The usual national chains like progressive and Geico are here, as well as many smaller national and local companies. In fact, the headquarters of USAA is located right in San Antonio. Any of these can be good choices for lots of motorists. There are also many smaller local car insurance companies offering policies in Texas. For example, Fred Loya insurance operates out of Austin. If you can’t find a good rate for more of the national companies, check out these local companies to see if they can give you a good deal.

The most important thing for getting low cost Texas auto insurance rates is to get lots of quotes online. Insurance companies give different rates to different drivers. In fact, the difference between the highest quote and the lowest quote you get is often hundreds of dollars. That’s why it’s so important to compare five or 10 quotes to choose the best plan and the lowest rate. Remember, don’t just look at the rate since the plans might also be different. You need a plan that fits your needs, whether it’s liability insurance, collision insurance, or a more comprehensive plan.

Other tips for getting cheaper quotes include keeping a clean driving record. If you have fewer tickets and fines on your record, the insurance company will give you better quote. Being a safe driver can add up to lots of money over the years. You might also go for a plan with a higher deductible. This means your out of pocket costs are higher, but you make up for it with lower monthly premiums. Another tip is driving a car with safety features like antilock brakes and airbags.

Do Renters Need Insurance?

I have seen several stories on the news, and heard personal stories from people I know, that reinforced my belief that renters should have proper coverage on their personal property. They should also be covered in case they cannot live in their rented homes in case of damage.

Several renters were affected by a recent storm. Many sections of their apartment complex were damaged by a recent storm, and the landlord had no vacant apartments to relocate these people. A good renters insurance policy would have provide them with money and even advice to find a place to stay while their apartments were being repaired.

These people also lost furniture, clothes and appliances because of the storm damage. Renters insurance would have helped them replace their personal property. The contents of their home would have been covered.

I have a good friend who lived in an apartment. After a break in, she lost her stereo and thousands of dollars worth of recordings that she had accumulated over the last few decades. If she had been covered, she could have made a claim to replace her valuables. But since she did not have a home contents insurance policy, she had to suffer the loss. You might argue that this collection was not essential, and her situation was not as bad as the people who had lost their homes and clothes, but she did lose a great source of enjoyment.

The Importance of Covering Home Contents

The contents of our homes can be worth many thousands of dollars. Sometimes we do not think about it because we built it up over a period of years. You probably did not buy your sofa and your engagement ring on the same day. But over a period of years, and even decades, you probably have accumulated some property that would cost a fortune to replace!

The Importance of Relocation

Have you ever thought about your emergency plan in case you could not live in your home. I have known many people who had to find temporary housing because their home was damaged. Even if you rent, you would have to pay a mover, put down a deposit, or pay for a motel room. In my own experience, this can add up to thousands of dollars.

Relocation will probably cause other disruption too. Will your kids have to change schools? Will it be harder for you to get to work? Could you lose some supplies or equipment you need to do your job. These losses can be financial disasters..

Renters Insurance Policies

A good policy should be an affordable way to protect yourself.

Home Contents Insurance – Protect your valuables, furniture, clothes, electronics, and appliances. Just take a moment to think about how much money you would need to replace your tv, computer, microwave, and wedding ring.

Relocation – If you lost your house or apartment, where would you go? How much money would it cost to move?

Liability – In today’s society, you must consider the potential for a lawsuit. If somebody claims they are injured, their property is damaged, or the home is damaged, because of you, how would you defend yourself?

These type of policies are actually very inexpensive. Of course the cost will depend upon how much coverage you think you need and where you live. But many people are surprised because they can find really cheap renters insurance.

In fact, I heard a comment from my friend who lost her music and stereo. Later, she mentioned that she could have been covered for the price of one restaurant meal a month. It would have been a very small price to pay for the security of a good policy.

Homeowners insurance is one of those annoying things that you have to have, even though you will probably never need it. A typical policy covers your home as well as the basic contents such as furniture and fittings. However, most standard homeowners insurance policies don’t include coverage for expensive or luxury items, such as jewelry, antiques or works of art. To insure these items, you generally have to take out a separate policy, sometimes called a rider.

You can easily get homeowners insurance quote simply by picking up the phone; you can also compare policies, costs and features on line. Some websites will compare companies and offer you several different quotes, so you only have to supply your information once. Your mortgage company may recommend an insurance company although you aren’t required to use that company. And you should also take out a homeowner’s insurance policy as soon as you have had an offer accepted on a house – rather than leaving it until later.

Try to obtain at least three quotes for your homeowners insurance from three different companies before deciding which one to take. You may be eligible for a discount if you have certain anti-theft or safety features in your home, such as smoke detectors, burglar alarms or dead-bolt locks; and you may also get a further discount if you have your auto and homeowners insurance on the same policy.

When shopping around for a quote, consider not only the amount of your monthly payment but exactly the amount of coverage that the policy provides. And the amount of your deductible is also something to consider when shopping around for homeowners insurance – the average deductible is around $250. Don’t be persuaded to take out more homeowners insurance than you actually need – a common error is to include the value of your land when estimating the value of your home.

If the amount of your homeowners insurance quote seems a little high, you may be what the insurance companies describe as high-risk. People who live in areas that are more prone to natural disasters – flooding, fires, hurricanes and earthquakes – are considered high risk. And if you live in a mobile home, you will probably pay more for your homeowner’s policy.

Unfortunately you have to have homeowners insurance – with a little bit of research and shopping around, you can be sure of getting the best policy.

If you need to transfer money to China quickly, using banks can often be the best idea. You will find that mail can take weeks, as can waiting for a check to clear, so that is usually the slowest option. As long as you do some research to pick the bank options that are the most budget-conscious, you will ensure that your recipient gets the money you need to send as soon as possible, with little expense or hassle for you. Consider some of the top options.

First, you should know that China’s currency is called the renminbi, or RMB. The yuan is the main unit of money, and 1 U.S. dollar equals about 6.82632 Yuan. Remember that the exchange rate changes frequently, so check just before you transfer money to China. Also, be sure to budget for any fees you will be charged for this service so that your recipient can get the full amount of money that you intend to send.

The Bank of China is one of the first banks that comes to many people’s minds, as there are locations both in the United States and China. If the one in New York is close to you, consider going to that location with cash and sending it. If you can only do it online, you can print out the form at their website, fill in the blanks, and send it to the Bank of China. This will take a bit longer than in person, since you will likely wait over a week for them to cash your check, and then a few more days to transfer funds electronically. Most transfers are $10 to $20; note that the more expensive price is for electronic transfers since it is faster.

If your intended recipients have a bank account at any Chinese bank, and you have one at an American bank, you can usually transfer money to China through that way. Some of the most popular banks include the Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of East Asia, China Merchants Bank, International Bank of Asia, Wing Lung Bank, and Bank of China. Banks that are also in the United States include Bank of America and Citibank Hong Kong. If you decide to transfer money to one of these or other banks, you would just need your friend or relative’s bank account number and the SWIFT code for their bank. The fees depend on the banking institution. Wells Fargo charges $5 to send money to a bank account, while Citibank charges $12. Other banks, such as HSBC, typically charge around $30 for wires, so be sure to shop around first.

If you find that dealing with banks is too expensive or inconvenient for you, there are other options. Some people do not like having to go to the bank and then pay large fees every time they need to transfer money to China. If you can relate, consider using a prepaid debit card instead. It carries the same benefits as a bank debit card, except you can add funds to it whenever you need to. Once your relatives or friends receive the card in the mail, you can add as much money as you need to for $5 each time, no matter the amount you add. They can then use it as a debit card at most stores, or withdraw cash in yuan at ATMs throughout China.

In the end, you are the one sending money, so you should choose what is convenient for you. Additionally, the more money you save on fees, the more you can send to your friends or family in China. For this reason, be sure to compare bank services before you transfer money to China.

For more information visit sending money to China or visit the https://www.atmcash.com/ home page for information on sending money almost anywhere in the world.

According to the Independent newspaper, UK households are spending an average of £1000 annually for car and home insurance. Despite the rising cost of car insurance, many insurance buyers are not researching the market thoroughly. If they do so they will be able to get a bargain auto insurance.

There could be many reasons for not researching the insurance market. It could be less time, lack of information, not asking the right queries and many people simply don’t bother.

Comparison of 3 popular Car Insurance Companies:

Norwich Union, More Than, Tesco Personal Finance.

More Than: Car Insurance

A financial brand of Royal Sun Alliance Insurance Group, More Than was launched in 2001. Its services include not only car insurance but also insurance in home, pet, travel and life.

Tesco Personal Finance: Car Insurance

Tesco Personal Finance provides services in
finance and insurance
. Insurance product range includes car, health, home, pet and life.

Norwich Union: Car Insurance

It is a subsidiary of AVIVA, worlds fifth largest and UK’s biggest insurance groups. Norwich Union’s insurance activities are monitored by Financial Services Authority.

Features of these Car Insurance Companies

- Online Discount Offers: Of the three car insurance firms, More Than offers maximum online discount of 15%. Both Norwich Union and Tesco Personal Finance offer 10% online discount.

- Breakdown Cover: More Than: 50% off breakdown is added to car insurance quote, specifically for prospective customers. Norwich Union: Does not offer a flat rate for breakdown cover. It is calculated based on the insured’s situation and £5 off is given for online breakdown cover.

- No Claims Bonus

More Than- Offers maximum no claims bonus for the life of your car insurance policy. This is offered to drivers with a good record, as a part of fully comprehensive car insurance policy. Driving conviction will make you ineligible for it.

- No Frills policy No Frills policy is offered by Norwich Union and Tesco personal finance. This does away with replacement car and personal injury cover and consequently reduces the cost of premium considerably.

- Pay as you go Pay as you go is the latest technology installed by Norwich Union and More Than in order to track down motorists’ usage. An optional offer, this will help car owners to cut down on their insurance cost.

More Than- Targets young drivers between the ages of 17-25 and offers a bonus at the end of the year if they don’t drive between the 11pm and 6 am.

Norwich Union- If motorists keep their car in the garage for six months, they will be charged less premium.

- Pay your premium in one go If you do not wish to pay a monthly premium, then Norwich Union gives you the option of paying your premium in one go.

All these offers are subject to availability so do check before hand with the company, when purchasing a car insurance policy.

I have recently moved into a new house and have had an infestation of mould as the house was not dried out properly before it was sold.
The building company have reffered me to their insurance company who requested photo’s of everything. We sent photos of what we have and explained why we didnt have photos for all.
They have come back with an offer of half of what we need to replace everything. They have not even offered the sum of what we have photos for.
Can someone please point me in the right direction of a template letter to dispute their offer?

Why are you dealing with the building company’s insurance company?
You should have your own buildings insurance and you should refer this to your own insurers.

http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhE4fL4bbuwHIpXOYj.fNZ7g5gt.;_ylv=3?qid=20080310184551AAPy4MV&show=7#profile-info-jwsC2Au5aa

Above is the question and the forth answer is what I am questioning.

What does this mean? Is it pet insurance for when a dog is sick?

I have house insurance and they wouldn’t even know if I have a dog or not.

Do they refuse you house insurance? and if so what is the reasoning behind it?

I am from Australia so please excuse me for my ignorance as it is not something I have ever heard of.

One of the first questions insurance companies ask when you call for a quote is “Do you own a dog and what breed?”
Rates are higher for certain breeds because of the amount of liability insurance you’re going to need to carry and you’re best bet is to not lie to them because later on down the road if something should occur and your dog bites someone the insurance company may not pay the claim because you did’nt tell them you had a dog.And you have 2 fights on your hands instead of the one with the person the dog bit.
Insurance companies want your money but they don’t want to give it back and they won’t unless they absolutely have to.
If they feel the liability is too great yes they will deny you insurance or cancel any existing policies. One pitbull or Rott may raise the rate but 5 will get you canceled for sure.
It may be different in Australia than here in the US but I’m guessing not.

Dubai’s buyers can finally decide to have a sigh of relief, since they can buy now properties insured against any structural damages. The buyers used to be left in lurch until today whenever any structural damage came to light after the properties were handover. They couldn’t ask for any legal proceeding or compensation due to the lack of proper laws they had. But, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has finally decided to change this scenario, and introduced a new law which makes developers responsible for damages that might get noticed after the property had been handed over. The buyers will be free to approach the regulatory body whenever there seemed to be any breach of law taking place. Scores of Dubai apartments, furnished villas, hotels and Dubai hotel apartments will come under the purview of this new legislation.

Investors used to withdraw from projects earlier, citing the lack of insurance cover as a reason. Under the new law, however, the developer will be made answerable to courts for any sub-standard construction. For example, any serious wall cracks taking place within the first ten years of property handover, can amount to be a case for compensation. Additionally, any electrical, mechanical or plumbing related irregularities can also be challenged during the first year. Any irregularities in the construction of Dubai apartments, hotels, furnished villas or Dubai hotel apartments could not be challenged in the courts earlier, since there was no clear framework to do it.

In addition, this law adds more clarity about the issue of maintenance of buildings. Under the new directive, a Home Owner’s Association (HOA) will be established for each jointly owned property and asked to look after the common areas, such as gyms, swimming pools, parking spaces, entrances etc. They will have to play the role of watch-dogs and see that the buyer’s money was properly made use of. It is surprising that, only five percent of Dubai’s households carry home insurance coverage, which is too few in numbers compared to what we may get to see from the countries like the USA, the UK, Australia or Japan.

The formation of HOA is key ingredient of this whole exercise. It will be required to maintain and be the beneficiary of the insurance cover in each case, while the constituent members, each having the ownership of one unit, will have to pay up the premium. Dubai may be a late entrant into this exercise, but it is expected to pursue it seriously now, and the buyers and promoters should be getting used to it now. The city needed to have it anyway, with so many high-end Dubai apartments, hotels, furnished villas and Dubai hotel apartments dotting its skyline.

Although, insurance cover is a basic necessity for any real estate buyer, people of Dubai did not shown any keenness about it in the past, may be, since most of them happened to be short term buyers. However, the introduction of the new law by RERA will change this scenario fundamentally, one hopes, and the awareness about property insurance will grow further. Dubai is as much known for its successful commerce, as for its shining real estate, which comprises of lavish hotels, shopping malls, Dubai apartments, villas and Dubai hotel apartments. The new property law by RERA will add more value to its real estate.
