I was recently in a car accident, but didn’t do a police report. Can I still claim this collision on insurance?
I was driving in the rain and went to brake and instead my car slid into the vehicle in front of me. I went to stop assuming he was doing the same thing, but he turned. So, I assumed that he was turning to get out of the street. I followed to turn, but he kept going! Then I realized he wasn’t going to stop. So, at that point, I just drove the two blocks to my original destination. I was told insurance would not cover the damage bc I did not stop and do a police report. Is this true? I have AAA Michigan auto insurance.
In the future avoid taking advice from whoever told you that. Count yourself lucky the person you hit didn’t stop, because if he had you would have owed for all damage to his car. Since it was your fault, the damage to your car would only be covered by collision, and a police report isn’t needed because there is no need to assign who is responsible. Call your agent, make the claim, get your damage fixed. You will, of course, have to pay the deductible amount if any.

What is a good car insurance company?
Since I started driving 9 years ago I have had Liberty Mutual car insurance. I’m not happy with them right now. I was in an accident 6 months ago and they refused to fight it for me. In 9 years I have never had an accident before. I called AAA auto insurance and they gave me a quote. I also called Allstate and they also gave me a quote. These quotes are including the accident that I was in. Which company would you go with? I’m rulling out Mercury.
I’m located in California
Alfa if you are in Alabama…. State Fram is a good one…..@

I hit a snowbank and have slight damage in front bumper. Should I call the insurance?
I lived in michigan. It was snowing and the road was very slippery. I lose control of my car, and it slipped and fish-tailed onto a snowbank. So i called AAA to get my car out. I didn’t realized that my front bumper was cracked until i got home. It is barely recognizable, but i have to get it fix b4 my lease end (in 2 years). I got the estimated at a body shop, they told me to replace it and it will cost me a little over 600. I have a collision coverage with 500 deductible. it’s a really minor damage and you can barely really see it, but to fix it i have to replace the whole thing. This is also my first accident ever, too. I know it will need to get it fixed before my lease end, but I am worrying my insurance premium will go up. I don’t know should I called the insurance or not? Also no police was involved too, so i don’t know do i need to report to the police also.
If no car is involved but yours, and no property is damaged but yours, and no injuries, then I believe you don’t have to report it to the police.
It’s up to you whether to pay out of pocket for the repair or file a claim with insurance.
If you file a claim, they will treat it as an at-fault accident and raise your rates just like they would any at-fault accident. The fact that it’s minor doesn’t help you in the slightest. That could make your rates go up a LOT especially if you’re young and male. Of course if that happens, you can always think about changing insurance companies.
However because it’s a lease, you need to have it repaired professionally to insurance standards. So you can’t have Uncle Cletus fix it for you for 1/4 the normal price.
