Flood Insurance — how to dispute?
I’ve owned my home for over a year (well the bank has owned it
) and I received a letter in the mail stating that I am now located in a flood plain and will be required to carry flood insurance. Is there an easy way to dispute this? It seems that FEMA has made my whole side of the road a “flood zone”. This insurance is very expensive and I really don’t want to have to pay it if I don’t have to. Thanks.
If you own the house totally [without a mortgage] you can opt to not have flood insurance, which would be a stupid thing to do. If you have a mortgage then you do not have a choice as the bank will require it. It is for your/and or the banks protection. If and when you need it [I hope never] you will be happy you had it.
