driver's ed course vs. home course?

is there any benefit in taking the actual driver's ed course rather than the home course in texas? just wondering.... someone said somthin like insurance was cheaper if you take the class. ???

A structured drivers ed course is usually the only type recognized by insurance companies. State's tend to recognize the home course depending that certain criteria is met. However that criteria is easily manipulated (hours, training etc). Driver's getting trained by lets say mom and dad have more of a tendancy to pick up the bad habit we all develop over time (driving with one hand using mirror to back up etc.).
