car insurance groups 1-20

Anyone recently received a shock with there insurance renewal?

I have just had my motor insurance renewal in for march to which has gone up by £17 per month no because of a claim but because a new grouping system. The old system was based on grouping of 1-20 now cars are based on grouping from 1-50 so my car has gone from a group 8 to 17 on the new system.

My insurance premium went through the roof at renewal. I called the insurance company and got a good reduction after a few minutes on the phone. Give it a try, call them and negotiate.
