How should I obtain a car while I am waiting for mine?

I was in an auto accident 5/10. The people that hit me were not insured and were arrested for drug possession. Since I live in South Florida, I am still waiting for the adjusters from my insurance company and the garage to look at my car and make a call of whether they will fix it or not (Hurricane Wilma repairs are holding them up). In the meantime, my rental will be up in about a week. I do not know what I am going to do about getting back and forth to work each day because there is no public transportation to speak of…and since it is only me and one other family member that does not drive…I am stuck without a way to get around. Can someone suggest something? I just do not have enough money to pay for the rental or for another vehicle at this time.

Talk to your insurance company to see if they will give you an extension on your rental car. Another alternative would be to buy an old junker car to commute in just until your insurance company settles your claim.
