best health insurance in florida
Need suggestions on insurance carriers for a retiree.?

Good Day, I am currently helping my elderly family member change her insurance carrier during open season for annuitants of federal employee health benefits. The form is confusing and has language I don’t quite understand. What is the difference between basic, standard and high because I see that each carrier gives you a choice. She is in generally good health, just old age stuff and would like to not have to pay a co-pay or in the least have it be very small. She is using medicare in conjunction with her current insurance and lives in South Florida. I just want to make sure that she gets the best coverage for the least amount of money taken out of her monthly annuity payment. Thanks in Advance!

You’ll need to talk with the people issuing the policy. Policies can vary depending on the government entity from which she retired.

Generally, the difference between the levels would be the amount of coverage. Most people in good health would probably get the standard because one never knows if they’ll get sick next year and need something better than the basic.

health insurance individual plans
Family health insurance plan or individual health insurance plans for each person?

I am quoting health coverage in Kansas for my family since we do not get this from an employer. My agent suggested that each family member have a separate insurance plan instead of one family plan to cut costs. I have never heard of doing this? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks

Usually, it would make more sense to have everyone one the same plan.

However, I have heard of circumstances where some members of the family have a separate policy, because of one family member’s health issue. The healthy family members can stay on a lower premium policy, while the family member with the health complication goes on their own policy.

It really just depends on the circumstances involved. Make sure to get quotes for each scenario, so that you can make a fully informed decision.
